Martha Powell FUNRaising & Meetings at Sea Specialist
“Taking Fund Raising to Fun at Sea!”

Meet Martha Powell. Her life has been filled with many exciting opportunities.
Her career in travel started back in the 1980’s as a full time travel agent. Later, she joined forces with her husband, Keith, and they owned a cruise only agency.
Martha has since worked with Keith full time arranging and coordinating Keith’s engagements as a Keynote speaker. Together, they are also brokers for a barter and trade organization.
Martha’s sincere love for the world of travel lead her to the decision to step back into the industry to enable her to focus on fundraising cruises for non-profits. A cancer survivor and advocate for patients and families, Martha says “what better way than to serve this community than to fund raise and benefit organizations that serve people whose lives have been touched by cancer”
Meetings at Sea include seminars aboard cruise ships that are of special interest to these groups – for example, wellness, survivorship, creative outlets, insurance, financial seminars, etc. With many exciting topics to offer her groups, Martha intends on adding to the repertoire of session options and nonprofits served.

Couple Battles
Wife's Lymphoma
One daring duo ventured outdoors to help battle the wife's disease by participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program for a 100-mile bike ride. Keith Powell went to the Grand Canyon some time ago, but then it was just to peer over the side, he said
When doctors couldn't come up with a reason for his pains a few years later, Martha Powell, 50, signed her husband up for the Team in Training program.
"I didn't even have a bike," he told a reporter. "But I figured it'd be the best way to lower his stress level," said Martha. Since then Keith has taken part in two more century ride fundraising events, according to research.
But then Martha decided she'd had enough of watching her husband doing all the work, she stated. "I was sitting in the doctor's office after another recurrence and I decided I was tired of always being the spectator," she told the press.
So Martha, despite having undergone three months of chemotherapy, began training for one of the Team in Training marathons with a new start. And four months later, she speed walked through a half-marathon in San Francisco, CA, Cancer Compass reported. "It was a great event," said Martha.
Martha is a long time supporter & volunteer for PLTC, “People Living Through Cancer”, she has sat on the Board and most recently was the conference coordinator for the SNM Cancer Survivorship Conference in Roswell, NM.
Being in various aspects of the travel industry for many years, Ms. Powell has come up for a way to take fund raising, or as she likes to call it “FUN Raising” to the sea. For every cruise sold, a portion will be donated back to the organizations that are dear to Martha’s heart. In addition to benefiting the organization there will be speakers and events that will make these cruises unique and appealing to everyone in the cancer survivorship community.
